My name is Lin Maria Cortorreal. I go by DLMC, which stands for Designer Lin Maria Cortorreal. I’m from Lawrence, Massachusetts. Fashion came to me one day during the summer of 2016. After that day, I fell in love with creating a variety of garments at home, so I figured, why not take it seriously? I’ve been a student here at the Academy of Art University, taking all the classes I need to become a professional fashion designer. I’m excited about the future, as I’m absorbing all the knowledge needed to execute it in the real world. I am eager to translate my creative vision into the professional sphere and contribute innovative, thoughtfully crafted designs that embody both discipline and originality.
Senior Thesis- All In The Mix
All In The Mix was inspired by animation and the layering of combining different prints with a variety of fabrics. I was inspired by animated characters such as Dragon Ball Z, Ben 10, Rugrats, and The Simpsons. The silhouettes in the garments created in this collection were all inspired by the characters’ figures and style. This collection process also started by gathering all the clothes I wear and creating style pattern combinations to see the rhythm of how different patterns and materials work together as one. As I work through this process, I create my own textile designs, which allows me to create my own animated character with unique characteristics that express their personality. I wear cheetah and army prints, so with that idea of pattern prints, I created prints that would complement the army and cheetah prints together.
