South Street Seaport: Resilient Public Structures

This project proposes an amphibious building at the edge of Manhattan, where land and water, public and private, resilience and recreation meet. Rather than treating water only as a threat, the design embraces it as an environmental force, spatial experience, and source of connection. The building is conceived as a hospitable, adaptive, and resilient place that responds to changing conditions while encouraging engagement between people, site, and program. Through layered spaces for hospitality, recreation, privacy, and gathering, the project blurs boundaries between interior and exterior, solid and open, individual retreat and communal life, creating a regenerative civic experience.
