Patric Yikun Wang is a costume designer born and raised in a conservative city in China, where he experienced firsthand the complexities of growing up queer. Now pursuing an MFA in Costume Design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, he draws deeply from his journey of self-discovery and his ongoing dialogue with body image, identity, and visibility. His work explores sexuality and queer experience as layered, emotional landscapes—tender, conflicted, theatrical, and resilient. Through silhouette, structure, and transformation, Patric creates garments that challenge restriction and celebrate embodied truth. With professional experience in the theater industry, his designs have been featured on notable performers, including Beyoncé.
