I’m a filmmaker who’s always been chasing something bigger than where I came from. I was born and raised in West Virginia, around people who worked hard, kept their heads down, and didn’t get many second chances. That environment sticks with you, and it shows up in the stories I tell.
Before becoming a filmmaker, I served in the United States Air Force as an Emergency Manager, working in chemical, biological, and nuclear defense. It was high-pressure work that demanded discipline and clarity, and it shaped how I approach filmmaking. Preparation matters, but so does the ability to adapt when things fall apart.
After my time in the military, I moved into film and built my way up, working in different roles on set before stepping into directing. I’m the founder of Middleport Pictures, a production company built on the idea that filmmakers should have the freedom to actually create, not just follow a system.
I believe films should be entertaining first and foremost. At their core, movies are meant to take us somewhere else, to pull us out of our daily lives and give us a break from everything going on around us. That’s what I’m chasing when I make something. I want people to sit down, get pulled into a story, and forget about the world for a while.
