Identities explores how a human role, activity, or ritual, when infused with passion, can evolve into a defining identity. Within the rhythms of daily life, we move between states of being, at times parents, bikers, skiers, coffee drinkers, captains, or professionals spending long hours in front of computer screens. Another project, Boat Life, turns toward landscapes and seascapes, drawn from lived experience aboard a sailing boat.
Artwork of Kaya Coulombier grows from her lifelong passion for drawing, painting, and visual arts. Her professional path initially led her to science and international work, while art remained a constant presence in her private life, returning to the center in 2014. In 2020, she started Painting at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, USA. In 2023, she left the scientific career to pursue art full-time. She completed her MFA in 2025. Her current key projects are “Boat Life” and “Identities.” She is interested in exploring further abstracted styles.
