Sanctum Library in the Fillmore District in San Francisco

This community building brings together educational, physical, and spiritual programs through the architectural elements of light, nature, and water. Set back from Geary Street, the project creates a calm buffer from traffic and organizes four entries around a central courtyard. The library represents education as light, with a threshold tree symbolizing wisdom and growth. Physical program areas remain open and visually connected to the courtyard, encouraging movement, energy, and shared activity. The spiritual center is more secluded, using water walls, washrooms, prayer rooms, and circular gathering spaces to support reflection, purification, ceremony, and year-round community use.
