I am an art educator in Alameda, California. I completed my MAT in Art Education at AAU in May 2025, and currently teach visual and performing arts at Bay Farm School (TK-5) in Alameda Unified School District. My lessons focus on the exploration of materials, promoting experimentation, risk taking, and discovery, along with the cognitive processes of problem solving and critical thinking.
In addition to teaching in Alameda Unified, I am a volunteer art docent at Frank Otis Elementary, where my son attends school. The connection I have to that school, as a parent, led me to the idea for my capstone project, Owlumination.
Capstone Project:
Otis Elementary will undergo a full reconstruction from 2026-2028. During that time, students will attend a temporary campus that has been designed with function, however lacks the spirit of an elementary school. Owlumination is the creation and installation of artworks that reflect the Otis community and serves to transform an otherwise impersonal space into a place that feels like home.
